European Marketing Academy
International Collaborations
Building a Global Marketing Research Community
Marketing research benefits from the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and perspectives across countries and academic communities. As an international academic organization, EMAC is committed to fostering relationships with marketing associations and research organizations worldwide.
Our goal is to build a connected global community of marketing scholars, create new opportunities for our members, and support academic exchange across regions.
We pursue these goals through several forms of collaboration:
Joint conferences and academic sessions:
Organizing special tracks, workshops, and joint events that bring together researchers from different academic communities.
Joint Special Interest Groups (SIGs):
Developing and managing research communities in specific areas of marketing, together with partner organizations.
Research awards and exchanges:
Providing opportunities for award winners to present their work at partner conferences.
Doctoral and early-career initiatives:
Supporting young scholars through research competitions, workshops, scholarships, and international research exposure.
Membership benefits:
Offering reciprocal discounts and other opportunities to members of partner organizations.
Our collaborations are designed to benefit the members of all participating organizations and create lasting relationships between academic communities.

Academy of Indian Marketing (AIM)
EMAC and AIM collaborate to strengthen academic connections between Europe and India, with a particular focus on supporting doctoral students.
With funding from the Sheth Foundation, the organizations are introducing a research competition and special session at the 2027 AIM–AMA–Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium in Ranchi, India.
The competition winner will receive a travel scholarship to attend and present their research at an EMAC Spring or Fall Conference, with registration provided by EMAC.
The initiative aims to give promising doctoral researchers greater international exposure and opportunities to develop academic connections.
American Marketing Association (AMA)
EMAC and the American Marketing Association (AMA) collaborate to strengthen connections between marketing scholars and promote academic exchange and professional development.
The collaboration includes:
- Membership benefits: EMAC members outside the United States and Canada are eligible for a 20% discount on AMA membership fees. Members can obtain the discount code from the EMAC Secretariat.
- Joint reviewer-training workshops: EMAC and AMA collaborate through workshops involving the International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM), Journal of Marketing (JM), and Journal of Marketing Research (JMR). Held in conjunction with EMAC and AMA conferences, these workshops help doctoral students and early-career researchers develop their reviewing skills through practical exercises and discussions with journal editors.
These initiatives support the development of young researchers and strengthen collaboration between the European and American marketing research communities.
European Advertising Academy (EAA)
EMAC and the European Advertising Academy jointly manage the Advertising & Marketing Communication Special Interest Group.
The SIG brings together researchers working in advertising and marketing communication, supporting academic exchange and collaboration through joint conference sessions and regular online research seminars.
The SIG is co-chaired by:
- Prof. Edlira Shehu, University of Groningen
- Prof. Vesna Zabkar, University of Ljubljana
The collaboration also aims to strengthen connections between academic research and advertising practice.
