A long-standing academic partnership connecting EMAC with the Korean Scholars of Marketing Science and strengthening marketing scholarship between Europe and East Asia.


EMAC-KSMS Cooperation
Beginning in 2006, EMAC and the Korean Scholars of Marketing Science started exchanging ideas about fostering cooperation between the two organizations.
A bridge between Europe and East Asia
Globalization has intensified over time, and the partnership between EMAC and KSMS has become beneficial for both sides. KSMS supports EMAC in extending its scope to East Asia, while EMAC helps Korean colleagues take an active part in academic marketing in Europe.
International exchange
The cooperation strengthens academic exchange between European and Korean marketing scholars.
Academic community
Since 2008, the Korean marketing community has been represented within the EMAC community.
Joint conferences
European scholars regularly visit Korean universities and have supported KSMS in launching Global Marketing Conferences jointly held with EMAC.
Key milestones
Cooperation discussions begin
EMAC and KSMS started exchanging ideas about fostering cooperation between the two organizations.
First joint symposium
The first joint symposium was organized in Reykjavik as part of the 36th EMAC Annual Conference.
Korea represented in EMAC
The Korean marketing community became represented within EMAC, with a National Representative of Korea joining EMAC’s Executive Committee.
Global Marketing Conference in Shanghai
The first Global Marketing Conference took place in Shanghai and was co-chaired by Professor Udo Wagner, University of Vienna and EMAC Past President.
Global Marketing Conference in Tokyo
The Global Marketing Conference was held in Tokyo and co-chaired by Professor Graham Hooley, one of EMAC’s past presidents.
Global Marketing Conference in Seoul
Two years later, the Global Marketing Conference was organized in Seoul, further strengthening the EMAC-KSMS relationship.
